Alliance Institute to Host Affordable Care Act Symposium for Gulf Coast Organizations

Due to the many complicated health care changes quickly approaching with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Alliance Institute is hosting a symposium on Nov. 15, 2013 in New Orleans called “The Affordable Care Act and Access to Health Care Along the Gulf Coast.”

Alliance Institute will be joined by Johnston Associates, Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights, and national health care reform experts for a discussion about how implementation of the Affordable Care Act ACA impacts gulf state communities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

The symposium will be a great opportunity to learn the ACA from a bird's eye view to individual state rollout. On hand will also be National and Regional leaders to discuss the ACAs impact on immigrants, persons with disabilities, and youth. In addition, it will look at how social media, outreach strategies, and community involvement come into play for making sure that Gulf Coast communities take full advantage of the changes to come.

The symposium will be held at the Pan American Life Conference Center in downtown New Orleans from 9:00am to 7:00pm, which includes a networking reception following the event.

Registration begins on September 16th. Interested organizations are urged to register quickly for this important conference as space is limited.

Symposium information and early-bird registration can be accessed through state specific registration websites: LOUISIANA | MISSISSIPPI | ALABAMA | FLORIDA

HOUSING SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS FROM ALABAMA AND FLORIDA.

Support for this event was provided by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Additional support was provided by Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights, Johnston Associates, Nations Law Firm, and Gulf Coast Fund.

Alliance Institute is partially funded by the Gulf Region Health Outreach Program (GRHOP) and the Deepwater Horizon Medical Benefits Class Action Settlement which was approved by the U.S. District Court in New Orleans on January 11, 2013 and is currently on appeal to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
